Ryder System is seeking a highly skilled Diesel Mechanic Technician to join our team. As a Master Level Diesel Technician, you will be responsible for performing complex repairs and maintenance on heavy duty vehicles.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine preventative maintenance, including oil changes, brake and tire work
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems
- Perform advanced skilled level repairs, including major engine repairs and diesel after treatment
- Utilize diagnostic computers and software to troubleshoot issues
- Interact with customers and drivers to determine the nature of complaints
- Instruct and advise other technicians on maintenance and repair procedures
- Coach and mentor other level technicians
- Advise shop management on shop repairs
- Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation
- Work in accordance with all federal and corporate compliance guidelines
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational or technical certification preferred
- Basic tools required
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines
- Four years or more relevant work experience preferred
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
- All other certification as required by location
- Ability to perform all T3 tasks
- Demonstrated advanced analytical and repair skills in vehicle maintenance
- Effective interpersonal communication skills
- Basic computer skills, including PC, Windows, and mouse
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Availability to work shift work, weekends, and on-call duty
- ASE Certification in PM, Brakes, A/C, electrical, electronics, or ASE Master Mechanic preferred
- Ability to operate shop computers and diagnostic test equipment proficiently
- Minimum tool requirement
- Ability to road test vehicles as necessary
- Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and influence others
