Teach Chess to the Next Generation

We're seeking passionate chess enthusiasts to join our after-school enrichment program as chess tutors. Our ideal candidate has a strong understanding of the game, excellent communication skills, and a patient attitude when teaching children.

About the Role

  • Competitive Pay: $50 - $75 per hour and a half session
  • Flexible Hours: Between 1 to 5 one-hour classes per week in the afternoon
  • Travel Compensation: Provided for trips over 12.5 miles

What We're Looking For

  • Strong Chess Knowledge: Some chess ability is required, with a USCF rating being a plus
  • Teaching Experience: Previous experience in teaching, tutoring, or camp counseling is a plus
  • Positive Attitude: The ability to teach young ones that knowledge and creativity are true magic
  • Classroom Management: The talent to encourage connections between chess problem-solving and real-life problem-solving
  • Communication Skills: The capability to conduct interactive, friendly, and fun classes with 10-15 kids
  • Responsibility: The sincere drive to be a positive role model and promote good sportsmanship
  • Reliability: The ability to maintain promptness and punctuality
  • Health and Safety: The implementation of CDC, School, and Chess Wizards COVID-19 prevention practices
