Interventional Radiology Technologist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Interventional Radiology Technologist to join our team at Carle Health. As an Angiography Specialist, you will play a critical role in conducting special procedures and working closely with radiologists to obtain accurate results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform special procedures in a manner that ensures accurate and complete examinations within guidelines, policies, procedures, and standards of Medical Imaging.
- Exhibit competency in performing and filming angiographic and CT radiographic procedures.
- Deviate from routines when patient conditions require it or at the request of the radiologist.
- Knowledgeable of catheters, guidewires, and sterile trays and prepares these items as necessary.
- Obtain and document accurate pre and post procedure information as applicable.
- Follow JCAHO patient safety goals.
- Maintain quality care throughout the procedure.
- Practice radiation protection through shielding whenever possible.
- Demonstrate a practical problem-solving approach to patient moving and handling issues.
- Demonstrate skills to promote patient and staff safety through appropriate use of lift equipment.
- Perform patient bedside lab testing and associated quality control in compliance with medical provider's orders and hospital lab procedures and policies.
Requirements:
- Maintain working knowledge of equipment in order to function in all areas of special procedures.
- Technically knowledgeable of equipment operation including hardware and software.
- Perform reasonable troubleshooting.
- Checks and observes equipment for general safety and appropriate operation.
- Reports equipment problems through appropriate channels.
- Maintains clean work area, checks and stocks all supplies in their specific area and verifies pertinent accessories assigned to that room.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform support functions of the Medical Imaging Department to ensure patient expectations and needs are met.
- Promptly processes films and paper work to ensure timely turn around.
- Maintains and coordinates patient flow to ensure efficient and expedient patient care, transporting patients to and from the department as required.
- Maintains and ensures a safe environment for patients and personnel and maintenance of the QA, QC, QI programs.
- Shares knowledge, guides, and encourages fellow technologist/students with proper department protocol and procedures.
- Displays a professional attitude in the area toward fellow technologists/students, fostering mutual respect and creating a productive learning environment.
