Job Summary

Benjamin Moore & Co., a leading manufacturer of innovative coatings, is seeking a highly skilled Polymer Scientist II to join our Technology and Innovation team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Search for and identify new polymer and coatings technologies, capturing trends and developments in various industries.
  • Explore and prove the feasibility of novel polymer chemistries.
  • Plan, develop, and implement scientifically designed experiments from concept to product commercialization.
  • Develop new polymers throughout all stages of product development, from laboratory synthesis to production scale-ups.
  • Collaborate with Procurement to identify and evaluate new and alternate materials.
  • Maintain an understanding of the competitive and supplier IP landscapes, analyze industry trends and emerging technologies, and identify potential opportunities for intellectual property.
  • Supervise 1-3 direct reports, developing personal growth opportunities while managing multiple projects for organizational growth.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. with 0-5 years of working experience in chemistry, material science, or related fields; MS with 5+ years; BS with 8+ years.
  • Knowledge and expertise in emulsion polymers and waterborne polymers.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, utilizing scientific and analytical tools in polymer development.
  • Ability to develop and commercialize products from initial concepts.
  • Highly motivated and a self-starter, capable of working independently and driving projects to completion.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to convey scientific concepts and project status clearly and candidly, effectively fostering collaborative relationships at all organizational levels.
