About the Job

UPMC Chautauqua is seeking a Part-Time Registered Nurse to join their team in the Critical Care Unit.

This is a mixed ICU and step-down unit that focuses on caring for patients requiring a higher level of medical and surgical care. The unit services patients with complex needs, including ventilators, high flow oxygen therapy, and acute/unstable post-operative surgical patients.

Responsibilities

  • Transformational Leadership: Demonstrate accountability for professional development that improves the quality of professional practice and patient care. Participate in unit-based shared governance, goal setting, and support the change and transition process to improve quality of care and the practice environment.
  • Professional Practice: Apply the nursing process within the framework of Relationship Based Care to create a healing environment. Formulate daily goals and a plan of care for patients that involves the patient as a partner and considers their individual needs in a holistic manner.
  • Structural Empowerment: Demonstrate knowledge of adult learning principles and apply in teaching patients, families, students, and new staff. Provide detailed and appropriate teaching to patients and families to guide them through the episode of care and transition to another level of care.
  • Healthy Workforce: Develop and maintain productive working relationships internally and externally by demonstrating accountability for actions, enthusiasm, motivation, and commitment to patients and colleagues.
  • Quality & Innovation: Actively participate in department or unit-specific quality improvement efforts. Identify opportunities for quality improvement to colleagues and management and take personal responsibility in improving patient satisfaction with the quality of care and service.

Requirements

The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and interact appropriately with patients of all ages. They must also possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs.
