Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional animal care and husbandry services, while collaborating with our research staff to maintain the highest standards of animal welfare and research integrity.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide routine care and maintenance of animal living quarters, including cleaning, feeding, and monitoring animal health.
  • Collaborate with research staff to maintain study-related tasks, including data management and animal behavior observations.
  • Develop and implement animal care protocols to ensure the highest standards of animal welfare.
  • Train and mentor junior Animal Care Technicians in animal behavior, technical skills, and data management.
  • Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; GED preferred.
  • At least one year of direct animal experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including N95 respirators.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs, carry up to 40lbs for up to 50 feet, and push/pull up to 75lbs force.

Working Conditions:

  • Work in a laboratory setting with exposure to animal pathogens and chemicals.
  • Handle and/or expose to animal tissues and zoonotic organisms.
  • Work beyond typical work schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts with short notice.
