Job Overview

The Merchandise Coordinator plays a vital role within the purchasing team, acting as the key link between the Frontline, Marketing, and E-commerce divisions at the University of Utah Campus Store.

This role involves collaborating with various cross-functional teams to implement unified merchandising strategies aimed at boosting sales, enhancing customer satisfaction, and fulfilling other retail objectives.

Key responsibilities include developing plans for new product launches, highlighting vendor offerings, orchestrating marketing initiatives, promotions, and product plan-o-grams for both physical and online retail spaces.

Additionally, this position will work closely with these teams to optimize operations and enhance overall efficiency.

Under the guidance of the Associate Director of Buying and Vendor Relations, the Merchandise Coordinator will serve as the main contact point between the Buying, Marketing, E-Commerce, and retail execution teams.

They will ensure that purchasing strategies, merchandising plans, product assortments, and critical deadlines are effectively communicated across these business units to foster alignment and drive revenue growth.

In collaboration with the E-commerce and Marketing teams, they will ensure that the online store accurately reflects current offerings and seasonal themes, including managing homepage and landing page banners that support the Buyer’s merchandise assortments, as well as executing campaigns that drive traffic and sales.

Furthermore, this position will collaborate with the Store team to maintain consistent merchandising standards across the organization, including monitoring inventory levels and providing recommendations for stock balancing to maximize product sell-through rates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate regular meetings and communications to ensure alignment on objectives, strategies, and timelines among all functional teams.
  • Participate in vendor meetings to assist buyers with product assortment strategies and identify emerging merchandise and market trends.
  • Manage and enhance product listings and content, including descriptions, images, and online pricing.
  • Coordinate with Store and Marketing visual merchandisers to ensure products are displayed in an appealing and strategic manner.
  • Develop and maintain project timelines, ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Monitor project progress and address any issues or delays promptly.
  • Oversee inventory levels and collaborate with the Buying and E-commerce teams to resolve discrepancies or stock issues.
  • Ensure marketing campaigns align with product availability and execution timelines.
  • In partnership with the Marketing Manager, track and analyze the effectiveness of marketing initiatives and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
Minimum Qualifications

Six years of relevant experience or equivalent (one year of education may substitute for two years of related work experience). Strong human relations and effective communication skills are essential. A Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
