Job Summary

As a Pediatrician at Heartland Community Health Center, you will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive healthcare services to children from birth through adolescence. This position offers an opportunity to practice medicine in a supportive and inspiring setting while addressing the unique healthcare needs of your patients.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct well-child exams, diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses, and manage developmental and behavioral concerns.
Maintain accurate and timely patient records in compliance with medical and legal standards.
Educate patients and their families on healthy lifestyles, immunizations, preventive care measures, health conditions, treatment plans, and lifestyle changes, empowering them to take an active role in their health.
Emphasize preventive measures through routine check-ups, screenings, immunizations, and health education to prevent illnesses and maintain overall health.
Offer guidance and support to patients and their families, addressing concerns and promoting understanding of medical conditions and treatments.
Work closely with a team of healthcare professionals, including nurses, dental hygienists, licensed clinical social workers, and mental health professionals, to provide integrated and coordinated care.
Participate in community outreach programs, health fairs, and educational initiatives to promote pediatric health and wellness.
Advocate for the health needs of the community, working to address disparities and improve access to care for underserved populations.
Document patient histories, examination findings, treatment plans, and outcomes in accordance with medical guidelines and regulations.
Champion policies and practices that enhance the health and well-being of children in the community.
Participate in on-call coverage as needed (typically one week/month).
Participate in value-based care and quality assurance programs.
Provide leadership within the clinical team, guiding best practices, participating in quality improvement efforts, and mentoring other healthcare staff.
Adhere to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations. By protecting patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.

Requirements

Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited institution.
Completion of an accredited pediatric residency program.
Board certified or board eligible in Pediatrics.
Valid medical license to practice in Kansas.
Valid Kansas DEA license.
Active Basic Life Support Certification.
Valid Mental Health First Aid Certification (completed upon hire).
Previous experience in a community health setting is preferred but not required.
