Despite treatment innovations over the past two decades, many patients with immunologic conditions continue to suffer. Our goal is to fundamentally change the outcomes for these patients.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Medical Director within Clinical Development who will be involved across the full scope of dermatology and autoimmune clinical drug development activities from discovery research through first in human, POC, and Phase 3 studies. The role will include leadership of one or more assets within the portfolio and will work closely with all members of the cross-functional asset team to apply full clinical knowledge to successfully advance clinical programs as well as the overall asset strategy.

Responsibilities
  • Represent the interests of Alumis as a senior leader and spokesperson for Clinical Development within the fields of Dermatology and Immunology.
  • Provide leadership in the management and oversight of the global ESK-001 Phase 3 program in plaque psoriasis.
  • Effectively influence cross-functional teams within Research, Biomarkers, Medical Affairs, Commercial, Regulatory, and Business Development as an expert within the Dermatology therapeutic area and broadly across immune-mediated inflammatory diseases (IMID).
  • Design and develop clinical studies and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Provide strategic support and implement clinical strategies across early and late-stage clinical development programs.
  • Closely interface with early development groups to define opportunities to explore new areas for scientific inquiry, including new indications and line extensions for molecules across the development pipeline.
  • Collaborate with colleagues from Business Development on due diligence opportunities that support both early and late-stage development collaborations, as well as co-development opportunities with external companies and acquisitions.
  • Coach, manage, inspire, and support team members to achieve business goals by leveraging an entrepreneurial and collaborative mindset.
  • Maintain the highest levels of integrity within development and standards for scientific inquiry in drug development.
  • Collaborate with CRO to provide medical monitoring oversight for the Phase 3 program.
Qualifications and Skills Required
  • MD or ex-US equivalent with board certification or eligibility in Dermatology or in a related immunology disease area with > 5 years of drug development experience.
  • Noted R&D expert with credibility to interface with Key Opinion Leaders, external health organizations, and regulators within Dermatology.
  • Proven leadership skills, as evidenced by having managed people within a pharmaceutical company or in a clinical/academic environment.
  • Ability to interact effectively in a cross-functional setting.
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing, presentation, and communications skills (written and verbal) to effectively address all levels within an organization.
  • Ability to assess, understand, and communicate continuously expanding medical and scientific information, as well as knowledge of commercial dynamics impacting drug development.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to collaborate with cross-functional partners to achieve enterprise goals.
  • Effective negotiation skills that enable the candidate to influence without authority.
  • Proven professional track record of strategic, organizational, and executional skills to support project planning across multiple activities, with the ability to anticipate and prioritize one's workload across multiple projects of equal importance.
  • Ability to work across diverse teams in a matrixed organizational structure, both as a leader and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Approaches deliverables in an organized manner with attention to detail and is able to meet timelines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work autonomously and with a high level of independence.
