We are seeking a skilled CT Technologist to join our team at Carle Foundation Hospital. As a CT Technologist, you will be responsible for performing routine and specialized examinations in the specialty area of CT, adapting procedures to obtain specific diagnostic and/or therapeutic results, and preparing patients for examinations.
Responsibilities- Perform CT examinations on patients of all ages, using independent judgment to adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic results under the direction of a radiologist.
- Prepare patients for examinations, including explaining procedures, positioning patients, and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Operate CT scanners and other equipment, maintaining working knowledge of equipment to function in all aspects of CT.
- Exhibit competency in performing and filming CT radiographic and specialized procedures, deviating from routines when patient conditions require it or at the request of the radiologist.
- Obtain and document accurate pre and post-procedure information as applicable, following JCAHO patient safety goals and maintaining quality care throughout the procedure.
- Perform reasonable trouble shooting, checking and observing equipment for general safety, maintenance, and appropriate operation, and reporting equipment problems through appropriate channels.
- Maintain clean work area, checking and stocking all supplies in their specific area and verifying pertinent accessories assigned to that room.
- Promptly process films and paper work according to proper procedures to ensure timely turn around in providing a report to the physician's office, maintaining and coordinating patient flow to ensure efficient and expedient patient care.
- Accurately complete all fields in the HIS STAR Radiology system, i.e. number of films repeated, contrast reaction, exam data entry, start and stop times of exam, and maintain and ensure a safe environment for patients and personnel and maintenance of the QA, QC, QI programs.
- Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology or related field.
- IEMA Radiography License in Illinois or temporary IEMA upon hire.
- Radiography (R)(ARRT) certification within 1 year.
- Computed Tomography (CT)(ARRT) certification within 1 year.
- 1-3 years of experience in radiologic technology, with problem-solving skills, the ability to set priorities, organize work, and have excellent interpersonal skills.
- Basic reading, writing, oral English skills.

- Basic computer knowledge.
- Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions.
