Job Overview

As a Junior Environmental Consultant at Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you will play a crucial role in supporting environmental compliance and assessment initiatives. Your main duties will involve conducting fieldwork, which includes:

  • Assisting in and leading sampling efforts for groundwater, surface water, sediment, air, and soil assessments.
  • Monitoring soil boring and bedrock coring operations.
  • Performing field screenings of various environmental media to identify potential impacts.
  • Documenting the installation of groundwater monitoring wells and piezometers.

In addition to fieldwork, you will contribute to reporting tasks by managing and interpreting environmental data, creating potentiometric surface maps, and developing geological cross-sections and reports. Your level of involvement will depend on your experience and exposure to the assigned tasks.



Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, analyze, and prepare raw data for engineering and scientific project documentation, including reports, plans, specifications, and permits.
  • Engage in fieldwork as required to fulfill project objectives.
  • Coordinate tasks with team members to ensure successful project completion and report progress to project leadership.
  • Maintain a solid understanding of engineering design principles, scientific methods, regulatory frameworks, and field standards.
  • Provide insights and support in exploring innovative techniques that enhance the efficiency of the company and contribute to project success.


Qualifications

  • 0 - 2 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Basic technical skills and demonstrated engineering/scientific judgment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members and independently.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Willingness to participate in fieldwork.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Willingness to pursue training and certifications in specialized areas relevant to the role.
  • Current 40-hour Hazwoper training is preferred but not required.
