About the Role

Fresh Consulting is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team of experts in hardware engineering. As a key member of our in-house consulting team, you will be responsible for architecting, designing, and delivering innovative solutions for our clients across various industries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed mechanical designs for complex systems, leveraging your expertise in CAD and design principles.
  • Own technical project requirements as a Technical Project Owner (T.P.O.), ensuring seamless project execution.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and growth.
  • Create and manage models in SOLIDWORKS, utilizing your proficiency in this industry-leading software.
  • Build and test prototypes, prepare and deliver design reviews, and design and conduct tests to validate design compliance to requirements.
  • Contribute to sales and proposal efforts, showcasing your expertise and building relationships with clients.
  • Collaborate with systems, electrical, optical, and software engineers to integrate subsystems into designs, driving innovation and excellence.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of mechanical design experience in industrial automated machines/equipment, custom robots, and/or robot end effectors.
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing, leadership, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Expertise in CAD, with a strong focus on design and concept generation (SOLIDWORKS preferred).
  • Experience with building prototypes, CNC machining, and rapid prototyping, with a passion for fast iterations.
  • Strong design skills, with the ability to manage through ambiguity and technical problem-solving.
  • Profound understanding of mechanics, structures, and mechanisms.
  • Extensive knowledge of instrumentation, including load cells, encoders, laser distance sensors, and more.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong familiarity with common mechanical components, including springs, bearings, gearboxes, linear guidance, and more.
  • Experience working directly and effectively with customers to capture requirements and find solutions.
  • Experience designing and building custom robots and robot end effectors.
  • Experience creating electrical schematics and/or programming microprocessors.
  • Experience with electric motors and drives (DC brushed, DC brushless, Servo, etc.).
  • Hands-on willingness to work with hands when needed.
  • SOLIDWORKS PDM proficiency.
  • Working knowledge of safety systems and risk assessments.

Education

Bachelor's degree in BSME, MSME preferred or equivalent experience.
