Physician (Psychiatry) Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician (Psychiatry) to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a key member of our Mental Health & Behavioral Sciences Services, you will provide exceptional psychiatric care to our patients, working closely with our multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care.
Responsibilities- Provide psychiatric examination and treatment to designated patients, coordinating medical care with Primary Care Providers as needed.
- Coordinate consultations and referrals of patients to other medical and/or Mental Health services.
- Participate in quality improvement programs, including peer reviews, open and closed medical record reviews, and utilization reviews.
- Supervise medical students, residents, and fellows, providing guidance and mentorship to support their growth and development.
- Perform emergent evaluation and/or triage functions for walk-in patients.
- Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.
- Citizenship: Must be a citizen of the United States.
- Education: Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree from an institution accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) or the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association.
- Licensure: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a state, territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Residency Training: Completion of a residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty Psychiatry Residency Training Program leading to eligibility for board certification.
- Board Certification: Board Certification in Psychiatry is required.
- English Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in spoken and written English.
