- The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is tasked with employing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to deliver personalized nursing care to residents. Collaborates with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams, including healthcare providers, to strategize, execute, and assess care plans. Demonstrates proficiency and operates within the complete scope of nursing knowledge and expertise, adhering to age and population-specific standards as designated in their clinical environment. Provides care to residents across all stages of preventive care, health maintenance, diagnosis, and treatment. Responsible for care coordination, resident assessments, education, and various nursing interventions.
May assume the role of charge nurse and delegate appropriate tasks to licensed and unlicensed assistive personnel, ensuring alignment with job descriptions, skills, resident care needs, and the competence level of the delegate.
Offers adequate guidance and support to delegates to guarantee safe and reliable administration of resident care and resolution of care and service issues.
Operates within the scopes and standards of nursing practice as defined by the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in the state of practice and licensure.
The Sanford Professional Nursing Practice acknowledges the Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements as established by the American Nurses Association, serving as the foundation for nursing care delivery and professional conduct.
Graduation from a nationally accredited nursing program is preferred, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).
A Bachelor's Degree in nursing is preferred.Must possess an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing in the state of practice and/or hold multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
