Department Objective:

The logistics division acts as the essential framework of Toyota Industries Group, ensuring the efficient flow of goods and services from suppliers to consumers. This department is pivotal in enhancing supply chain processes, optimizing inventory management, and guaranteeing timely deliveries.

Role Overview:

Lead the Logistics Department in executing daily operations while implementing Toyota Production System (TPS), 5S, Just-In-Time (JIT), and other Lean Manufacturing principles under a continuous improvement mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee departmental activities and prioritize tasks to meet or exceed customer quality standards and delivery timelines.
  • Implement TPS methodologies across all logistics and manufacturing operations.
  • Support the maintenance of the Kanban system to ensure appropriate inventory levels for JIT manufacturing by supervising inventory counts and reconciling data.
  • Encourage continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs effectively.
  • Contribute to financial goals by providing input on budget planning, monitoring expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective measures.
  • Ensure adherence to standardized work practices and promote safety, health, and environmental compliance.
  • Foster open communication within the department among all levels of staff.
  • Encourage the professional development of Logistics Associates.
  • Manage the 5S program within the Logistics department, ensuring the upkeep of warehouse conditions through layout planning, equipment inspections, and maintenance requests.
  • Assist in evaluating equipment maintenance needs and developing preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Gather, analyze, and communicate logistics or quality issues to relevant team members and implement necessary solutions.
  • Ensure comprehensive understanding and compliance with workplace regulations.
  • Mentor junior staff in leadership practices and promote skill development activities.
  • Assist in maintaining current and controlled quality and procedural documentation.
  • Promote a safe and environmentally responsible workplace by adhering to all relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, or a related field is preferred, along with 7+ years of relevant experience in a dynamic manufacturing or warehouse setting.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems for logistics and inventory control is essential.
  • Familiarity with Kanban system processes is preferred.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply Lean Manufacturing and JIT concepts.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
  • Capability to thrive in a multicultural, team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and use of hands for handling tasks.
  • Occasional reaching, climbing, balancing, and stooping.
  • Ability to lift and/or move at least 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must maintain a constant state of alertness and operate safely.
