Primary ResponsibilitiesThe Surgical Instrument Specialist will:
- Examine, assemble, and assess all surgical instruments and sets to guarantee proper sterilization and completeness, while identifying any necessary repairs or replacements.
- Conduct decontamination processes for soiled instruments, sterilization containers, and equipment in accordance with established protocols.
- Evaluate instruments, equipment, and containers to ensure cleanliness and proper operation.
- Adjust instrument sets based on current standards and established count sheets or tracking systems.
- Maintain adequate inventory levels to ensure availability for surgical procedures.
Candidates should meet the following licensure and educational requirements:
- Preferred: Central Service Technician certification specializing in Sterile Processing from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association.
- Preferred: Central Service Technician certification specializing in Sterile Processing from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD).
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent, or at least one year of relevant job-specific experience.
- Note: Professional licensure or certification may substitute for education or experience when applicable.
