Job Summary

UNC Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to support the clinical activities in the UNC Healthcare System.

This is a full-time position in the Chatham Laboratory, working Monday to Friday, 1:00pm to 9:30pm, with variable weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and standardized tests using standard techniques and equipment.
  • Prepare specimens, resolve specimen problems, and perform analytical tests.
  • Record results of tests and maintain records.
  • Provide test results, reporting deviations from the norm to supervisor or ordering physician.
  • Assist in teaching Clinical Laboratory Science students and Pathology residents, and training of new employees.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technician, Chemical Science, or Biological Science.
  • ASCP or AMT Board of Certification eligible and must receive BOC within a year, if Associate's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technician.
  • MLT (ASCP) or MLT (AMT) Board of Certification (BOC) required, if Associate's degree in chemical or biological science.
