About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Epidemiologist to join our team at the Illinois Department of Public Health. As a key member of our Communicable Disease Section, you will play a critical role in investigating and controlling outbreaks of infectious diseases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in outbreak control and investigation, tracking and analyzing data to identify trends and patterns.
  • Develop and manage grant applications and projects related to infectious disease surveillance and control.
  • Collaborate with local health departments and other stakeholders to share best practices and coordinate responses to outbreaks.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to local health departments on infectious disease surveillance and control.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research and developments in the field of epidemiology and infectious disease control.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in public health, registered nursing, microbiology, sociology, anthropology, veterinary medicine, biology, psychology, chemistry, epidemiology, or a related field.
  • Three years of professional experience in communicable disease or infectious disease surveillance and/or control programs at the local, state, or federal level.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel and work in a fast-paced environment.
