Electrical Technician

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Technician to join our team at Kinder Morgan. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing and maintaining single and multi-phase electrical power feed and branch circuits, including conduit, service control wire, fuse and breaker panels, switches, control sensors, outlets, junction boxes, lighting fixtures, splices, connectors, and ground wiring for red and black installations.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of low voltage single phase and 480v to 138kv three phase circuits, as well as experience with automation and programming various PLC platforms. They will also be responsible for ensuring that the material utilized and workmanship meets the requirements of the applicable technical codes and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install and maintain electrical power feed and branch circuits
- Work on low voltage single phase and 480v to 138kv three phase circuits
- Ensure compliance with technical codes and safety standards
- Participate in teams installing complex communication and control equipment
- Assist with planning and scheduling of I&E Automation maintenance activities
- Be responsible for electrical contractor work order and invoice review
- Be responsible for Maintenance, PM, HSSE / Compliance, Site Inspections, and Housekeeping related to I&E Automation System area of responsibility
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering or a related field
- Strong understanding of low voltage single phase and 480v to 138kv three phase circuits
- Experience with automation and programming various PLC platforms
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access)
- Working knowledge of SCADA systems and their functions
- Excellent working knowledge of electronic end devices and controls
- Ability to read electrical schematics, identify components, and understand their function
- Ability to read P&ID (Process and Instrumentation Diagram) and PFD (Process Flow Diagram)
- Ability to focus on attention to details and willingness to follow operating procedures
- Ability to work in a teamwork-oriented environment
- Ability to successfully perform multiple tasks with strict deadlines
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of radio communications
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Four years working in automation and programming various PLC platforms

- Valid driver's license
- Electrical Qualified-Basic Skills
- Electrical Safety Qualified Worker-Industrial Facilities
- Electrical Safety Qualified Worker-Utilities
- Electrical Qualified Safety NFPA 70E
- Electrical Safety National Electric Code (NEC)
- Electrical-Substation Maintenance I
- Electrical-Substation Maintenance II
- Electrical-Grounding and Bonding
- Electrical-Circuit Breaker Maintenance-Low Voltage
- Electrical-Circuit Breaker Maintenance-Medium Voltage
Working Conditions:
- May work in low-lit areas
- Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions
- Must be able to frequently enter confined spaces, climb to and work from elevated platforms, ladders, and walkways, etc.
- Depending upon the location and workload, travel will be required
- Available for shift work when needed
- Wears safety equipment as required
