Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Hostess/Host to provide exceptional customer service and ensure the smooth operation of our food service department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve Therapeutically Correct Trays: Serve trays to patients, process diet orders, collect patient menu selections, and adjust patient menus in accordance with patient's diet order and the diet reference manual.
  • Provide Outstanding Customer Service: Greet patients, visitors, customers, and co-workers with a smile and pleasant manner.
  • Check Meal Reports: Check meal report diet orders/changes against each patient tray, clarify conflicting orders with nursing, and make dietary modifications and age-specific adjustments to menus/trays following established guidelines.
  • Prepare Trays for New Admissions: Prepare trays for new admissions and transferred patients, serve and collect trays, and perform meal rounds to monitor patient satisfaction with food and service.
  • Explain Menu Process: Explain menu process to patients, assure receipt of each patient's menu selection via CBORD room service, and guide patients in making selections in accordance with their diet.
  • Review and Adjust Patient Menus: Review and adjust patient's marked menu in accordance with the ordered diet and patient's nutritional requirements and the diet clerk reference manual.
  • Calculate Fluid Allowance: Calculate fluid allowance and prepare trays with fluid restrictions, deliver patient tube feeding formulas, and monitor patients with changes in intake and report nutritional concerns to the dietitian/technician.
  • Maintain Cleanliness: Maintain cleanliness of pantry area according to the established cleaning schedule, deliver meals utilizing the current meal delivery system, and assemble and serve nourishments/snack baskets and fill water cups as assigned.
  • Inventory and Store Supplies: Inventory, obtain, store, and rotate supplies and nourishments within established time lines using the par system, and follow Standard Precaution procedures for infection control when preparing and serving trays.
  • Prepare and Serve Special Diets: Prepare and serve early/late and test diet trays as assigned, communicate food service/nutrition related problems to manager, technicians, and dietitians, and take appropriate action to handle patient problems/inquiries.
  • Check Equipment Temperatures: Check and report equipment temperatures and problems in accordance with quality control procedures, and participate on Patient Satisfaction Committee Meetings for their assigned pod as requested.
Requirements:
  • Education: High school graduation or its equivalent.
  • Experience: Six months food service experience preferred.
  • Certification: ServSafe certificate preferred.
  • Equivalent Combination: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
