This position entails overseeing inmate work crews and is actively engaged in general facility upkeep and construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute all programs, work projects, and activities related to repairs, renovations, replacements, and construction, including cost assessments and scheduling.
  • Prepare precise and detailed reports.
  • Manage building repairs, maintenance, and construction, which may involve water supply, sewer systems, and electrical supply.
  • Travel to various facilities to support assigned operational duties.
  • Operate heavy machinery as required.
  • Handle warranty claims preparation, replacement, and settlement.
  • Coordinate all inspections related to natural gas.
  • Establish and implement preventative maintenance schedules for all equipment and facilities.
  • Review and interpret blueprints and schematics for contractor bids on construction projects.
  • Consult on new construction projects with senior management.
  • Order and monitor materials needed for projects.
  • Collaborate with engineering firms, contractors, and governmental agencies.
  • Drive for state business as necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Safety regulations and local/national building codes.
  • Preventative maintenance techniques and construction methods.
  • Blueprints and structural components relevant to building construction and repair.
  • Service contracts and compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft and Google applications).

Skills in:

  • Coordinating and scheduling work projects effectively.
  • Developing and implementing maintenance programs.
  • Communicating effectively in written and verbal formats.
  • Reading and interpreting technical documents.
  • Preparing reports and conducting research.
  • Building and maintaining professional relationships.
  • Making quick and informed decisions.
  • Problem-solving.

Ability to:

  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Push and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Walk or run short distances as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes.
  • Learn and apply agency policies and procedures.
  • Prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Work in challenging environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

One year of experience equivalent to a Facility Operations Supervisor role or a combination of relevant training and experience.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Employment is contingent upon passing a background check, drug screening, and medical examination. All employees must also complete a Tuberculosis (TB) test during orientation and annually thereafter.
