Information System Security Specialist

Estimated Salary: Up to $47.95/hourly based on industry standards and location

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and updating authorization packages, ensuring approved procedures are in place for clearing, sanitizing, and destroying hardware and media, and conducting periodic reviews of information systems to ensure compliance with the security authorization package.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the ISSM in meeting their duties and responsibilities
  2. Prepare, review, and update authorization packages
  3. Ensure approved procedures are in place for clearing, sanitizing, and destroying various types of hardware and media
  4. Notify ISSM when changes occur that might affect the authorization determination of the information system(s)
  5. Conduct periodic reviews of information systems to ensure compliance with the security authorization package
  6. Coordinate any changes or modifications to hardware, software, or firmware of a system with the ISSM and AO/DAO prior to the change
  7. Monitor system recovery processes to ensure security features and procedures are properly restored and functioning correctly
  8. Ensure all IS security-related documentation is current and accessible to properly authorized individuals
  9. Ensure audit records are collected, reviewed, and documented (to include any anomalies)
  10. Attend required technical and security training relative to assigned duties
  11. Execute the cyber security portion of the self-inspection, to include providing security coordination and review of all system assessment plans
  12. Identify cyber security vulnerabilities and assist with the implementation of countermeasures for them
  13. Prepare reports on the status of security safeguards applied to computer systems
  14. Perform ISSO duties in support of in-house and external customers
  15. Conduct security impact analysis activities and provide to the ISSM on all configuration management changes to the authorization boundaries

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • TS/SCI Clearance
  • 2-5 years related experience, especially in developing RMF packages or bodies of evidence; Prior performance in roles such as System/Network Administrator or ISSO; SAP experience;
  • DoD 8570.01-M IAM Level II (in lieu of IAT Level II) certification
