Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Grounds Maintenance Specialist to join our team at the University of Minnesota. As a key member of our Landcare Department, you will be responsible for maintaining the beauty and functionality of our campus grounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plant and maintain annuals, perennials, shrubs, and trees to ensure a visually appealing and healthy landscape.
  • Maintain and repair irrigation systems, including performing routine checks and making necessary repairs.
  • Operate a variety of equipment, including ride and walk behind mowers, skid steers, edgers, and back pack blowers, to maintain turf areas and perform other grounds maintenance tasks.
  • Assist with storm water management garden maintenance and installation.
  • Clean and organize facilities associated with Landcare, including storage areas and equipment.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and one year of experience in commercial gardening, grounds maintenance, or a related field.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to repetitively lift and carry 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Valid MDA non-commercial pesticide applicators license.
  • Experience operating a skid steer with attachments and other equipment associated with grounds maintenance.
