POSITION SUMMARY:
The Cross Reference & Sourcing Representative is responsible for managing cross-reference inquiries to enhance the accuracy of product matches for our clients. This role involves assisting in the identification of non-catalog or unique items for quotation purposes and determining the corresponding MSC part number through the conversion of competitor or manufacturer nomenclature.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Source products or vendors that are non-catalog or special for the Cross Reference Team.
- Identify MSC equivalents for non-catalog or special items.
- Utilize the List Management database to convert competitor, manufacturer, UPS, and other nomenclature into MSC part numbers.
- Add non-cross-referenced items into the competitive cross-reference database.
- Complete tasks based on timelines agreed upon with the requestor and the RFQ team to meet customer expectations.
- Make informed business decisions when crossing items for requested quotes based on guidelines provided by the project owner.
- Maintain records and tracking documentation as required.
- Stay updated with all cross-reference functions to provide additional resources when necessary.
- Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as required.
- Promote the MSC Culture within the department and throughout the organization to ensure a unified purpose and fulfillment of MSC's mission.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- A minimum of two years of industry experience is required.
SKILLS:
- Basic proficiency in Windows PC and the Internet is required.
- Demonstrates persistence and quality orientation when identifying, sourcing, and crossing products.
- Proficiency in basic Excel skills necessary for data manipulation required.
- Familiarity with AS/400 sales-related functions is required.
- Knowledge of a variety of industrial products is essential.
- Strong communication skills are required.
- MRO subject matter expertise in at least one of the following areas is preferred:
- Electrical
- Hydraulics / Pneumatics
- HVAC
- Power Transmission
- Pipe/Valve/Fittings
- Metalworking
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
This position may require access to International Traffic in Arms Regulations Information ("ITAR") and/or Controlled Unclassified Information ("CUI").
Compensation starting at $36,120.00 - $56,760 depending on experience.
The salary range is based on similar roles in comparable industries and the cost of labor in respective cities. Actual compensation is determined by the candidate's relevant experience, education requirements, and peer pay equity. The Company reserves the right to modify the range as market conditions change.
