Job Overview

We are seeking skilled Web Second Press Operators to become an integral part of the Mittera Group. In this role, you will assist in the setup and operation of advanced printing machinery, collaborating closely with the Press Operator and team members to ensure each project meets client specifications and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Thoroughly review job tickets, layout sheets, and artwork specifications prior to commencing work.
  • Understand and execute setup and maintenance procedures for the entire printing press.
  • Input accurate color standards into the Computerized Press Control (CPC) to facilitate necessary color adjustments.
  • Achieve color approval in accordance with proofs, guided by the Press Supervisor.
  • Interpret color bars and indicators to maintain print quality throughout the production process.
  • Balance ink and water systems to ensure optimal print quality.
  • Monitor color consistency during production using color OK sheets.
  • Conduct press operations including make-readies, folder operations, and color registration.
  • Assess job orders to confirm print quantities, stock specifications, and special instructions.
  • Pull proofs to verify ink coverage, density, alignment, and registration.
  • Assist the Press Operator in adjusting web tension for optimal job speed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment around the press.
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on all assigned equipment.
  • Document ongoing maintenance issues for resolution.
  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • 1 to 3+ years of experience as a multicolor web second press operator is preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend work instructions and business communications.
  • Strong communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Proficient in basic math skills for practical problem-solving.
  • Capability to interpret various forms of instructions.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Organized with the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Basic computer skills are necessary.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and focused on quality and safety.
Physical Requirements
  • Must use proper body mechanics for lifting, pushing, pulling, and bending.
  • Ability to lift and move items up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires manual dexterity and coordination.
  • Near visual acuity is necessary for detailed work.
  • Ability to navigate and operate within various departments.
  • Must maintain professionalism in high-stress situations.
Work Environment

Employees may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and hazardous materials. Regular interaction with moving mechanical parts is part of the job.
