The Facilities Services Department oversees the upkeep and functionality of all campus facilities, encompassing buildings, grounds, and utility systems. The Landscape Aide plays a vital role in the overall cleanliness and aesthetic maintenance of campus landscapes.

This role involves engaging in manual labor tasks. Additionally, the Landscape Aide contributes to the upkeep, repair, renovation, and development of campus outdoor areas in various weather conditions.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Possession of a valid Tennessee Driver's License
  • Demonstrated stable work history
  • Capability to perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods in diverse weather conditions
  • Ability to comprehend and adhere to instructions
  • Willingness to learn the operation of various power tools (including commercial mowers, leaf blowers, line trimmers, and chainsaws)
  • Knowledge of the equipment and tools necessary for task completion
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks efficiently to meet deadlines
  • Understanding of safety protocols when performing tasks and using equipment
  • Exemplification of a positive demeanor and effective interaction with team members

Applicants should be in good physical condition, capable of undertaking strenuous activities, and able to lift and carry weights up to 50 pounds. Furthermore, candidates must be able to follow directives, maintain a positive attitude, and collaborate effectively within a team setting. Adherence to the departmental attendance policy is required.

All personnel within Facilities Services are classified as "Essential Personnel." In extraordinary circumstances, the University may alter regular operations and classes. In such cases, all Essential Personnel are expected to fulfill their responsibilities to ensure the continuity of critical University functions, address the needs of students and the University community, and safeguard the University's assets. Essential Personnel must report to work during emergencies unless it is unsafe to do so or they receive specific instructions from their supervisor.
