The Department of Crop, Soil, and Environmental Sciences at Auburn University is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Assistant Research Professor - Computational Hydrologist. This is a twelve-month, non-tenure-track position with 100% research appointment. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an impactful research program with a focus on climate-related issues such as long-term weather patterns, droughts, floods, and deviations from historical temperature patterns.
The person in this position will use computer modeling and design deep learning systems to extract information from existing data sets and create high-resolution data to explain and forecast climate and weather changes. They will be expected to become leaders in the use of artificial intelligence/machine learning in the discipline area of climatology. Advising graduate students, grantsmanship, and novel research are expectations of this position. The person in this role will actively publish and disseminate their findings in public forums and in high-quality refereed journals.
The successful candidate must possess excellent written and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with diverse audiences. They must also meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and to continue working legally for the term of employment.

**Responsibilities**

**Minimum Qualifications**
Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering, Hydrological Sciences, Hydrology and Water Resources or a similarly related field at the time employment begins.
**Desired Qualifications**
Post-doc experience, experience with development and execution of regional and federal grant-funded projects.
