Shift Operations Manager Role at Astronics

Astronics seeks a skilled Production Team Lead to oversee second and split shift operations. This key role involves supervising and coordinating activities of the production team by performing various duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop an effective team through clear communication, planning, monitoring, and performance evaluation; provide coaching, counseling, and guidance to employees; establish and enforce systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain staff levels by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; develop personal growth opportunities.
  • Ensure smooth workflow by monitoring process steps, setting processing variables, observing control points and equipment, monitoring personnel and resources, and studying methods to implement cost reductions and reporting procedures.
  • Complete production plans by scheduling and assigning personnel, achieving work results, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising schedules, resolving problems, and reporting results on shift production summaries.
  • Foster quality service by establishing and enforcing organizational standards.
  • Evaluate equipment operation by requesting repairs, assessing new equipment, and techniques.
  • Provide manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data; answer questions and respond to requests.
  • Create and revise systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, budgetary, and personnel requirements; implement change.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on control points, equipment, and resources; maintain compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Resolve personnel issues by analyzing data, investigating problems, identifying solutions, and recommending actions.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing publications, establishing networks, benchmarking best practices, and participating in professional societies.
  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed.

Requirements:

  • Supervisory experience, coaching, process management, improvement, budget tracking, production planning, controls, instrumentation, and manufacturing environment experience are desired.
  • The ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions, correspondence, and memos is required.
  • Possess the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurement, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Possess the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands:

  • The employee occasionally needs to stand, walk, sit, use hands to pull handles, push buttons, and reach objects. Requirements may include climbing, balancing, stooping, bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

Work Environment:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Compensation:

$62,500-$82,500 per year, considering factors like location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
