Job Title: Medical Assistant/Patient Representative

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant/Patient Representative to join our team at Methodist Health System. As a Medical Assistant/Patient Representative, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.

Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant/Patient Representative will work under the general direction of the Physician or Nurse to provide healthcare to individuals and families as instructed by the physician. You will perform routine clinical processes, participate in patient education, enter appropriate documentation into patient charts, and perform other duties assigned within the scope of your licensure.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain strict patient confidentiality and use complete discretion when discussing patient information.
  • Implement patient care under the guidance and direction of the physicians, MA's, and/or Office Manager(s).
  • Screen phone calls during triage under the supervision of a physician and function as a patient screener only, referring any triage phone call or face-to-face triage situation requiring a medical decision to a physician.
  • Perform intramuscular, intradermal, or subcutaneous injections with complete documentation.
  • Assist physicians and/or MA's in providing nursing care to patients in accordance with clinic policies and procedures.
  • Take patient history and vitals.
  • Check for expired medication on a monthly basis, keeping appropriate documentation and disposal.
  • Responsible for unpacking and maintaining medical supplies and vaccines and keeping the supply closet organized.
  • Assist in Rx refills via Fax, E-Rx, or phone calls and updating in the patient medication module.
  • Demonstrate an extensive working knowledge and practice of infection control procedures.
  • Clean and disinfect all instruments and maintain QA reports for the autoclave.
  • Other job duties as assigned.
