About the Role:

As a Swim Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching students of all ages and skill levels how to swim and promoting water safety. You will work closely with our Deck Supervisors to ensure that our students receive the best possible instruction and care.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach students of all ages and skill levels how to swim and promote water safety
  • Work closely with Deck Supervisors to ensure that students receive the best possible instruction and care
  • Enforce safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents and make rescues when necessary
  • Evaluate students' progress and complete required paperwork in a timely manner
  • Interact with parents/guardians on the activities and development of students' swim skills
  • Act as a GSS ambassador to ensure parental satisfaction
  • Use problem-solving and creative thinking skills to identify and resolve challenges that students encounter
  • Inspect pool areas before and after each class for possible maintenance, cleanliness, or damage issues and report issues to management as appropriate
  • Maintain and ensure proper storage of all pool equipment and place and remove lane lines
  • Report accidents and incidents to management and complete required documentation and paperwork
  • Perform Deck Teacher duties as needed and perform light cleaning duties such as window washing, deck mopping, trash removal, etc. on occasion
  • Attend required/mandatory workshops and in-service training outside of regular working hours
  • Fulfill other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Employer
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED is preferred
  • Experience as a certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor, and/or childcare provider required
  • Two or more years as a swimming instructor required
  • Lifeguard, CPR/AED, and First Aid certification required
  • Shallow water attendant highly recommended
Work Environment:

While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to heat and humidity. Noise level is usually moderate.

Each franchisee can set their own wages, benefit programs, and terms and conditions of employment, which may vary at each Goldfish Swim School location.
