Job SummaryAs a Medical Surgical Nurse, you will provide care for primarily adult patients before and after surgical procedures. You will coordinate healthcare plans with medical professionals, administer medications, and educate patients on surgical procedures.
Your responsibilities will include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans in consultation with healthcare professionals. You will also evaluate medical information, provide direct and individualized bedside nursing care to pre-and post-surgery patients, and prepare, administer, and record prescribed medications.
You will be responsible for changing dressings, inserting catheters, and starting IVs, as well as adjusting specialized medical equipment as needed. You will also monitor patients' vitals and report adverse reactions to medications in a timely manner.
Collaboration with the healthcare team is essential, and you will work together to develop discharge plans. You will also answer questions and educate patients and their families on surgical procedures and post-surgery care.
Maintaining and updating patient files, medical charts, and health records is also a critical aspect of this role. You will adhere to best nursing practices, standards, and protocols.

QualificationsTexas Registered Nurse Licensure without restrictions is required. AHA BLS (CPR) certification is also required. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English is necessary for this role.
