The Opportunity

We're seeking a talented Scientist - Product Development Innovation to join our team in Columbus, OH. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to work on the development of new nutritional products and contribute to the growth and success of our company.

Responsibilities
  • Conceive, plan, design, and conduct independent research on ingredients, formulations, and processes related to the development of nutritional products.
  • Follow direction provided by project goals and experimental design.
  • Weigh ingredients and prepare research batches in the pilot plant or lab.
  • Perform batch calculations, prepare weigh sheets, and manufacturing instructions. Coordinate testing. Monitor, organize, and interpret results.
  • Draw conclusions, make adjustments, suggest direction for, and implement improvements to formulations.
  • Recognize problems, troubleshoot, and initiate corrective actions.
  • Communicate technical results to project teams.
  • Author summary reports on technical findings, when applicable.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Food Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Math, Food Engineering, or a related scientific field.
  • M.S. / B.S. with 3 - 7 years relevant industry experience also considered.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Outstanding background in Science and Math. Emphasis in food and protein chemistry, emulsion stability, ingredients interactions, lipid oxidation, and antioxidants, or creating similarly complex nutritional systems is desired.
  • Strong scientific curiosity and enjoys experimentation. Ability to do literature searches to inform approach to problem statements.
  • Ability to generate and translate innovative concepts into technically feasible and consumer-relevant products.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate full relevance of scientific observations and to produce documents and reports. Strong organizational skills.
  • Experience with data analysis software. Ability to communicate technical results to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Team-oriented, with high energy and desire to achieve results. Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and meet business goals.
