Role Summary
The Animal Transport Technician plays a crucial role in the preparation, securing, and packing of loads of diverse sizes and weights, utilizing appropriate hitches for each task.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and pack supplies using livestock, ensuring the safety and well-being of animals and personnel.
- Administer basic veterinary care, including feeding and medical treatments for livestock.
- Operate heavy machinery for the maintenance of livestock facilities and transport animals as needed.
- Occasionally lead trail crews in the absence of the designated crew leader.
- Assist in transporting supplies and equipment to various locations, ensuring efficient logistics management.
- Maintain a high standard of safety for all individuals and animals involved in operations.
- Engage in trail construction and repair, utilizing hand and power tools while adhering to safety protocols.
Work Environment
This role is based in a national park setting, characterized by diverse weather conditions and a vibrant community. The surrounding area offers various amenities, including educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and recreational opportunities.
Employment Conditions
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Background investigation and favorable adjudication are mandatory.
- Must comply with Selective Service Registration Act requirements.
- Participation in the Direct Deposit Electronic Funds Transfer Program is required.
- Uniform compliance may be necessary, with allowances provided.
- Flexibility to work on-call, during evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required.
- Occasional overnight travel may be necessary.
