Position Overview:

The role of the Senior Cost Accountant encompasses a variety of critical responsibilities aimed at ensuring accurate financial reporting and cost management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive variance analysis to identify discrepancies and trends.
  • Analyze cost of goods sold and assess margin performance, proposing re-quoting strategies as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the Controller, Operations Manager, and VP of Finance to facilitate month-end closing processes for inventory and work-in-progress (WIP).
  • Initiate and compile cost data for new products where standard data is not available.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for pricing new, redesigned, or modified products.
  • Review and analyze job costs and variances, ensuring accuracy in reporting.
  • Generate monthly management reports and analyze closed jobs for variance insights.
  • Engage with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Materials, and Purchasing, to ensure accuracy in routings and bills of material.
  • Maintain the integrity and accuracy of costing and inventory records.
  • Participate in cycle counting and assist in audit preparations.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Process Engineering preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in cost accounting or process engineering within a manufacturing context.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and familiar with ERP systems, preferably Infor Manufacturing ERP.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP/IFRS and Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required for this position.

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $80K - $99K, depending on experience.
