Job Title: Dance Instructor

Join the City of De Pere, WI team as a Dance Instructor and share your passion for dance with children

Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Dance Instructor to teach beginner to intermediate/advanced dance classes to children ages 5 and up. The successful candidate will have a strong background in dance and/or pom terminology and techniques, as well as the ability to choreograph routines and teach a specified age group.

Responsibilities
  • Instruct dance classes for youth, including tap, ballet, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, and contemporary
  • Choreograph routines appropriate to each age group
  • Assist with choosing costumes and preparations for recital performances
  • Communicate with parents and maintain good PR with staff and public
  • Identify and respond to participant behavior issues; document if necessary
  • Maintain appropriate safety measures for program participants
Requirements
  • At least 16 years of age, 18 preferred
  • Previous dance and/or pom experience
  • Previous teaching experience and experience working with children a plus
Working Conditions

Classes are held at De Pere High School and the De Pere Community Center. The season runs from the end of September to the beginning of March (20 weeks). Instructors may choose how many classes taught depending on availability.
