Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Clinical Laboratory Assistant Microbiology to join our team at the University of Maryland Medical System. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accurate preparation and routing of laboratory testing in various specialized laboratories.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receives and accesses patient samples into the Laboratory Information System, ensuring accurate and timely entry of codes and information.
  • Maintains accurate patient identification and information for billing purposes, adhering to departmental procedures.
  • Accessions, processes, and arranges delivery of specimens according to departmental procedures.
  • Acts as the Expeditor for specimen management, coordinating specimen and order processing to ensure timely delivery to testing or problem-solving areas.
  • Evaluates specimen integrity, ensuring specimens are adequate for testing.
  • Answers telephones and responds to customer inquiries and requests.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of customer service experience preferred.
  • Effective organizational and communication skills required.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical operations.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Must be able to perform duties accurately and with attention to detail.
