Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Universal Banker to join our team at Owen County State Bank. As a key member of our retail banking team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, processing transactions, and originating consumer and home equity loans.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Transaction Processing
    • Accept deposits and accurately process routine transactions, including loan payments, savings bonds, and cashier checks.
    • Prepare cash transaction reports, process night deposits, and mail deposits.
    • Order foreign currency, wrap and count coins, and balance teller drawers.
  2. Customer Service
    • Assist customers with questions or problems, balance ATM machines, and process paperwork.
    • Access the STAR system to enter ATM cards and check for issues.
    • Backup on cash vault responsibilities, open/close vaults, and assist with alarm testing.
  3. Loan Origination
    • Originate consumer and home equity loans within the framework of applicable laws, regulations, and bank policies.
Requirements
  1. Education
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Licenses and Certifications
    • Ability to obtain registration with the national Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS).
  3. Skills
    • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and maintain confidentiality.
    • Knowledge of basic computer operation and data entry.
    • Ability to operate a variety of automated and standard office equipment.
  4. Experience
    • One-year related experience in retail banking and/or sales strongly preferred.
