The Neonatal Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is essential in delivering high-quality inpatient care within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Key responsibilities include assessing and managing neonatal patients, executing necessary medical procedures, and adhering to established healthcare standards. The Neonatal APP works in close collaboration with physicians to ensure optimal patient care and outcomes. Furthermore, they are actively involved in patient care activities, showcasing leadership, teamwork, and dedication to the healthcare field.
- Perform thorough physical examinations
- Initiate emergency assessments and interventions
- Conduct advanced invasive procedures
- Engage in medical committees
- Offer support and information to families
- Enhance medical and nursing knowledge through research initiatives
- Participate in neonatal transport operations
Qualifications:
Neonatal Nurse Practitioner
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) required
- Completion of an accredited Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program
- Certification as a Registered Nurse Practitioner
- Required experience in the NICU setting
Neonatal Physician Assistant
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Experience in the NICU or completion of a neonatology residency
- State licensure as a Physician Assistant required
Additional Requirements:
- NRP or STABLE certification
- Basic Life Support or CPR certification
- Compliance with background clearance regulations
