The National Automation Service Engineer plays a crucial role in the on-site deployment of sophisticated automation systems. This position requires close collaboration with various teams, including Technical Support, Field Service, Sales, Project Management, and Professional Development. The Engineer will also provide national-level escalation support by diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing intricate electro-mechanical systems, networked computer systems, and advanced software. This role involves addressing service issues in the field and communicating findings to technical support.

This position is part of the National Service Support Team and operates remotely; however, candidates must reside within one hour of a major metropolitan airport in the Central United States. The role demands extensive travel, approximately 80%, primarily by air. At Beckman Coulter, our mission is to continuously transform healthcare, one diagnosis at a time.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize your expertise to identify and resolve unique challenges associated with laboratory automation systems.
  • Drive product and revenue growth through the effective execution of implementation processes.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance, both on-site and remotely, to field service engineers.
  • Collaborate with teammates and installation teams to build effective partnerships while working with minimal supervision.
  • Mentor and train internal and external customers to enhance their technical knowledge and skills.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; or an Associate's Degree with at least 5 years of experience.
  • Proven experience in complex electro-mechanical troubleshooting and repair.
  • Willingness to travel domestically at least 80% of the time, often on short notice, from a home-based office.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on customer engagement.
  • Proficient in computer applications (MS Office) and knowledgeable in network/LIS communication and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with Standard Laboratory Practices, including Quality Control and regulatory compliance.
