Key Responsibilities
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Uphold the American Swedish Institute's high standards of cleanliness by cleaning and maintaining our facilities, including the Nelson Cultural Center, Carriage House, and Turnblad Mansion.
  • Facilities Management: Perform general maintenance and cleaning tasks, including mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, dusting, glass cleaning, and trash/recycling removal.
  • Team Collaboration: Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with colleagues, supervisors, members, and visitors.
  • Event Support: Prepare set-up for events, meetings, and programs as outlined by set-up requirements.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain facilities equipment for optimum performance and report any equipment repairs to the Facilities Manager.
  • Supply Management: Alert the Facilities Manager or Facilities Supervisor to low inventory of cleaning supplies and guest supplies.
  • Special Events: Assist in covering special events and other Maintenance Custodians' time off by working opening or late-night closing shifts as requested by the Custodial and Events Set-Up Supervisor.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent and 2+ years of similar experience.
  • Supervision and Teamwork: Ability to accept supervision and work with a team.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to organize work, set priorities, and manage multiple tasks on deadline.
  • Judgment and Decision-Making: Ability to use reasonable judgment when performing and planning to perform tasks.
  • Recycling and Waste Reduction: Working knowledge of recycling and waste reduction practices.
  • Physical Demands: Punctual, reliable, and strong work ethic. Ability to stand and do manual work for long periods of time for 6-8 hour shifts.
