Eastern New Mexico Medical Center is seeking a PRN Laboratory Technician. In this pivotal role, you will contribute significantly to the delivery of exceptional care for our patients.
Our laboratory team enjoys a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, a 401K plan, flexible work schedules, and full reimbursement for licensure and certification. The Laboratory Technician is expected to foster positive public relations for the department and the organization while ensuring the confidentiality of patient and customer information.
Key Responsibilities of the Laboratory Technician:
- Conducts both manual and automated routine blood analyses.
- Prepares specimens for microscopic evaluation.
- Operates laboratory instruments such as centrifuges, dry bath incubators, and blood bank refrigerators.
- Utilizes experience and judgment to strategize and achieve objectives.
- Performs a variety of tasks with a degree of creativity and independence.
- Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
Qualifications include graduation from an accredited Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Technology program and successful completion of a national examination administered by recognized professional bodies. Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the laboratory field is essential.
Education / License / Certification:
A degree in Medical Laboratory Science (Associates or Bachelors) is required, along with 1-5 years of relevant experience. ASCP certification is preferred.
Able to meet the sensory demands of the position and proficient in performing all laboratory tests and associated calculations. Must be capable of participating in the laboratory's Quality Assurance Program, with a strong attention to detail and the ability to concentrate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
