Position Overview

Summary of Responsibilities

The physician will be accountable for delivering high-quality, efficient, patient-centered, and cost-effective care to all assigned patients. Care may be rendered in various settings, including ambulatory, sub-acute, or acute care environments as deemed appropriate. Full-time is defined as a minimum of forty (40) hours of direct patient clinical or administrative care weekly, typically spread over five (5) full workdays. On-call responsibilities for assigned patients will be allocated fairly and reasonably based on the physician's specialty.

Key Responsibilities:

The following points outline the general nature and level of work performed by individuals in this role. This is not an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel in this classification.

1. Maintain comprehensive records of all services provided to patients in accordance with established standards.

2. Engage in quality assurance programs as assigned.

3. Oversee the administrative duties of non-physician staff working alongside the physician.

4. Ensure compliance with relevant policies and procedures, including personnel actions, payroll practices, training, charity care, accounts payable, coding, billing, and claims processing.

5. Adhere to local, state, and federal regulations such as OSHA, CLIA, and wage and labor laws.

6. Participate in budget development and performance, including expense reviews and ongoing budget reconciliation.

7. Exhibit a courteous demeanor and foster positive patient relations and a favorable image.

8. Engage in practice and group development initiatives, such as community speaking and volunteer activities, to enhance physician visibility.

9. Collaborate with administration to adjust the physician's business approach when necessary, such as modifying practice styles and scheduling to improve productivity and patient satisfaction.

Qualifications

Minimum Education, Experience, and Licensure/Certification Requirements:

1. Must possess and maintain a current medical license to practice in the State of Maryland.

2. Must hold and maintain current Board Certification in the relevant specialty.

3. Must possess and maintain a current DEA or equivalent Narcotics and Controlled Substances Certification.

4. Must have and maintain appropriate clinical privileges at a minimum of one UMMS affiliated acute care facility, if applicable.

5. Must demonstrate compliance with minimum CME requirements for licensure and board certification.

6. Must exhibit appropriate qualifications and experience to fulfill the duties required of this position.
