Position Summary:

The CNC Machining Specialist is responsible for setting up, adjusting, programming, and operating a computerized numerical control (CNC) machining center based on detailed blueprints, sketches, and specifications. This role requires familiarity with the operation manual and the ability to perform all operational functions as outlined.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and manage a two-pallet system to enhance machine utilization and efficiency.
  • Conduct milling, drilling, boring, threading, grooving, reaming, and other machining operations on sub-assemblies.
  • Utilize the operation manual to execute necessary setup functions, requiring knowledge of nomenclature and data entry codes.
  • Establish standard parameters for feeds, speeds, and other machine limits to ensure optimal performance.
  • Select operation sequences for data entry and verify accuracy through CRT display checks.
  • Perform in-process inspections to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications using various measuring instruments.
  • Maintain quality standards to meet required tolerances throughout the machining process.
  • Handle materials safely, utilizing hand or power-driven equipment as necessary.
  • Recommend tooling applications and sequences for new or complex operations.
  • Provide setup and instructional training for machinists in other classifications as needed.
  • Supply personal tools such as scales, squares, and calipers as determined by supervisory staff.
  • Manually debur parts as required to ensure quality finishes.
  • Adhere to safe working practices and maintain good housekeeping standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Production Lead or designated personnel.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Proficiency testing may be applicable.

Preferred Skills:

  • CNC training is advantageous.
  • One year of experience in a machine shop environment is desirable.

Working Conditions:

May involve lifting items up to 60 pounds over short distances. The role may require standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods. Exposure to fumes, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor conditions, moving mechanical parts, and moderate to loud noise levels is possible. Appropriate protective gear and clothing must be worn as necessary.
