The Safety and Security Specialist operates under the guidance of the Security Supervisor, executing a range of responsibilities focused on the protection of the hospital premises and ensuring the safety of all personnel, patients, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct regular patrols of the facility and grounds to maintain a secure environment.
  2. Investigate incidents of theft, disturbances, or any suspicious behavior.
  3. Assist medical staff in managing patient restraints and addressing disruptions caused by patients, visitors, or staff.
  4. Control access to the facility, including verifying the identity of individuals entering, managing entry to sensitive areas, and regulating traffic flow as necessary.
  5. Activate and deactivate security alarm systems and maintain communication with local law enforcement regarding any criminal activities.
  6. Document daily activities and report any unauthorized individuals, ensuring they are escorted from the premises when necessary.
  7. Respond promptly to incidents of violence or requests for assistance in managing aggressive individuals.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma required.

Experience: Preferred experience of 6 months to 1 year in a hospital security role.

Certifications:

  • Current Guard Card
  • Current BLS (CPR)
  • Current CPI (AB508)

Physical Requirements:

To successfully perform the duties of this position, the individual must be capable of fulfilling each essential function. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities. The role requires standing, walking, sitting, using hands, reaching, and the ability to lift weights exceeding 10 pounds with assistance. Visual and auditory capabilities must be intact to perform the necessary tasks.
