We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Athletic Trainer to join our team at The University of Kansas Health System. As a PRN Athletic Trainer, you will be responsible for providing athletic training services to student-athletes, working closely with sport coaches, strength and conditioning coaches, and other healthcare providers to ensure the health and wellness of our student-athletes.
Key Responsibilities- Primary Athletic Trainer: Serve as the primary athletic trainer for assigned teams, providing medical care and support to student-athletes.
- Healthcare Delivery: Assist with the organization and supervision of healthcare delivery to student-athletes under the supervision of Head Team Physicians.
- Documentation: Prepare timely and accurate documents, including injury/illness reports, care and reconditioning updates, daily athletic training records, and injury/illness summaries for coaches and medical staff.
- Treatment and Rehabilitation: Properly document injuries and treatment sessions, utilizing evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation techniques to provide healthcare for student-athletes.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with team physicians, coaches, and strength and conditioning coaches regarding injured or sick athletes.
- Student-Athlete Support: Coordinate student-athletes' evaluations and treatment follow-ups with physicians, and provide athletic training services for athletic summer camps.
- Certification and Licensure: Maintain NATA-BOC certification and State of Kansas licensure.
- Mentorship: Mentor students within the undergraduate athletic training major and serve as a classroom and/or laboratory instructor.
- Professional Development: Participate in the athletic training major curriculum as a Preceptor in cooperation with the Program Director and Clinical Coordinator.
- Education: Master's Degree in Athletic Training, Physical Education, Health, or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Certification: Certified Athletic Trainer - Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOC ATC).
- Licensure: Licensed Physical Therapist (PT) - State Board of Healing Arts (preferred).
- Experience: Less than 1 year of experience working with collegiate or national level.
- Manual Therapy: Less than 1 year of experience with Manual Therapy.
- PRI: Less than 1 year of experience with PRI.
