Pharmacy Technician Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Covenant Children's Hospital in Lubbock, Texas. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accurate and efficient dispensing of medications to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Filling and dispensing unit dose and stock medications from the pharmacy to the nursing units and other ancillary departments.
  • Triaging patient orders and maintaining the integrity of the automated dispensing system (ADS).
  • Filling/dispensing oral and IV medications.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Texas Pharmacy Technician Trainee upon hire, or Texas Registered Pharmacy Technician License upon hire.
  • Minimum of one year (2080 clock hours) of pharmacy practice in an integrated health system and current PTCB certification, or 2 years (4160 hours) hospital pharmacy if not PTCB certified.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Graduate of a Pharmacy Technician program.
  • Specialty certification (e.g. ACPE approved sterile compounding certification) where applicable by role and state.
  • Previous experience with Automated Dispensing Machines (ADMs) and electronic health records (EHR).
