As Director, Observability, you will lead our Observability team in monitoring our critical applications and infrastructure across a wide array of technologies and platforms.

Salary: $140,000 - $200,000 per year, depending on experience

About the Role

The Director will provide leadership and direction of the Observability team to ensure appropriate and reliable monitoring of our critical applications and infrastructure in a rapidly evolving hybrid landscape.

  1. Drive and enhance the strategy for Observability for Gartner IT, including acquisition, delivery, analysis, and visualization of metrics, logs, and traces.
  2. Ensure the team is collecting the right metrics at the right frequency and the data is readily available/consumable for alerting, reporting, and analysis.
  3. Directly collaborate with senior management and key partners to understand business requirements, help drive alignment and prioritization, and build thoughtful solutions to achieve collective goals.
Responsibilities
  • Manage resource assignment and project prioritization for the Observability team.
  • Determine relevant KPIs to measure the team's ability to complete work requests and projects in a timely manner.
  • Ensure tight integration of best-of-breed observability platforms and seek opportunities to further enhance and simplify service offering for our key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team of dev, ops, and architects to understand complex application architectures in order to design an effective top-down Observability strategy for holistic service visibility.
Requirements
  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  2. 12+ years of information technology experience, with a desired 7+ years in a relevant critical Observability/Monitoring leadership role or similar position.
  3. Experience with designing and engineering solutions to monitor critical systems and network infrastructure across a wide array of technologies and platforms.
