Water Treatment Plant Operator

We are seeking a highly skilled Water Treatment Plant Operator to join our team at American Water. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our Class A Surface Water Treatment Plant.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain chemical feed systems, pumps, and multimedia filters to ensure high-quality water treatment.
- Perform process control testing and analysis to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Fill day tanks and calibrate chemical feed pumps to ensure accurate chemical feed.
- Receive and test chemical deliveries to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Perform routine maintenance and housekeeping to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
- Collect and analyze water field tests to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Make process adjustments based on process data and operational skillsets to optimize water treatment.
- Collect and maintain process and facility equipment records.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the water treatment plant.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- 0-2 years of experience in the water industry.
- Class A Illinois EPA Drinking Water Operator Certification or ability to obtain license within company guidelines.
- Valid drivers license required with the ability to pass a motor vehicle background check.
This is a rotating shift position, working 6:00am-6:00pm or 6:00pm-6:00am. The successful candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
