We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Instructor to teach American Sign Language Studies courses at Baton Rouge Community College. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, assessing student learning, and contributing to the development of the ASL program.
Key Responsibilities- Teach face-to-face, online, and dual enrollment courses in American Sign Language Studies
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans and assessments
- Provide individualized support to students and respond to their needs
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and improve the ASL program
- Stay current with best practices in ASL instruction and assessment
- Baccalaureate degree in American Sign Language (Linguistics, Sign Language Studies, Sign Language Education, Interpreter Education, Deaf Education)
- Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI) or National Interpreter Certification (NIC) credential from Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or certification from American Sign Language Teachers Association (ASLTA) or any other equivalent certification
- At least two years teaching American Sign Language classes at a college or university
- At least two years of experience as a certified American Sign Language interpreter OR certification from ASLTA or equivalent certification
- Master's degree in American Sign Language (Linguistics, Sign Language Studies, Sign Language Education, Interpreter Education, Deaf Education)
- Experience with online teaching and learning platforms
- Knowledge of curriculum development and assessment
