Key Duties and Responsibilities

As the Application Security Lead, you will spearhead the application security initiative and provide strategic guidance to the security team. Your role will involve establishing organization-wide application security standards, addressing intricate security challenges, and engaging in technical discussions with software developers to clarify complex security inquiries and gather new security requirements. You will mentor engineering teams and security advocates to enhance the overall security posture of Samsung Electronics Perú's products.

Additionally, you will collaborate with the Director of Security Engineering to cultivate a proactive relationship with the headquarters security team. This collaboration aims to align requirements and balance technical innovation for Samsung Electronics Perú with a leading security framework.

Your responsibilities will also include contributing to the comprehensive Application and Data Protection strategy and leading cloud security initiatives concerning cloud application and data monitoring, reporting, and auditing controls. This position is crucial in proactively securing Samsung Electronics Perú's products throughout all phases of the software development lifecycle. You will work closely with product and software development teams to model threats, identify vulnerabilities, determine necessary control points in the application stack, and conduct early-stage penetration testing of software, systems, and network architectures.

You will collaborate with a team of exceptionally skilled and passionate developers who possess a robust technical background to address unique technical challenges in bringing products and services to market.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Conduct application security assessments, detailing requirements, verifying remediation efforts, and performing threat modeling and data migration.
  2. Assist engineering teams in developing security-centric software and infrastructure.
  3. Execute threat analyses and security audits on software and infrastructure.
  4. Establish hardening configuration standards.
  5. Implement web application firewall policies to safeguard public web systems.
  6. Contribute to defining and enforcing security standards for Cloud Native applications, firewalls, AWS configurations, and more.
  7. Engage in security evaluations of service architectures and serve as a Subject Matter Expert for engineering teams.
  8. Create a platform that enables engineering and corporate teams to comprehend their vulnerabilities and risks while supporting their remediation efforts.
  9. Develop policies and documentation for security best practices concerning new technologies and generate metrics and reports on the cloud security posture of our systems.
  10. Investigate emerging technologies and methodologies related to application security and assess how Samsung Electronics Perú can integrate them.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  1. Strong analytical and communication abilities.
  2. Self-motivated with the capacity to inspire team members.
  3. Adept at breaking down larger tasks into manageable segments, delegating effectively, and ensuring completion without micromanagement.
  4. Enthusiastic about learning new technologies and passionate about application security.
  5. Expertise in OWASP Web Top 10 and threat modeling using established frameworks such as STRIDE.
  6. Proficient in at least one programming or scripting language, with strong knowledge of AWS, Linux, and SIEM.
  7. Experienced with penetration testing tools such as Burp Suite, Metasploit, or ZAP.
  8. Familiar with static and dynamic application security testing tools and penetration testing methodologies.
  9. Background in incident response and digital forensics, including data collection, examination, and analysis.
  10. Proven experience in implementing complex security controls and configurations for cloud-based software and networks.
  11. Experience in threat modeling and penetration testing.
  12. Familiarity with DevOps models and pipelines as they relate to security integration.
  13. Experience with SAST and DAST tools.
  14. Solid understanding of security risk management principles.
  15. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  16. Excellent proficiency in English is essential; fluency in Korean is a plus.

Compensation for this role is competitive and will be determined based on relevant skills and experience.
